The end of TV (as we know it)

Microsoft unveiled it's new Mediaroom 2.0 at CES. This isn't the first time we've seen a "TV everywhere" type application, but because it's coming from MS, there is (I assume) lots of muscle behind it.

Meadiaroom makes use of the cloud to deliver content to multiple devices including PCs, TVs, XBox 360s and mobile phones. Microsoft will make it available to operators. For example, AT&T will be using it as part of their U-Verse service.

Thank you for posting this! I have been following the CES as well and have seen some really neat items, like the AR Parrot Drone. I REALLY want one of those. The 3-DTV is a lot of hype, but I do hope that it takes off.

Microsoft MediaRoom looks very impressive and I look for Microsoft to play a big part in overall home entertainment. They have really hit on a big market with the XBOX 360 and they have integrated MediaRoom into the Xbox. On the Microsoft MediaRoom website it also said that they had achieved the fastest channel change in the industry! Very impressive.

It's nice to hear something other than "TV Everywhere". Do you know what type of hardware a company would need to have or how it would be implemented?
